Vaccinations

Canine distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, contagious hepatitis, rabies… potentially deadly diseases can lie in wait, and puppies are particularly at risk when protective maternal antibodies wane. It is therefore essential to keep to a vaccination schedule as directed by your veterinarian and follow-up with regular boosters throughout your dog’s life. The health checks and advice you’ll gain from these regular visits to the vet will be essential.

External & Internal Parasites

Fleas and ticks reappear regularly, particularly in the warmer months of the year. Many products including sprays, ‘spot-ons’, injections and tablets are available. Many work in different ways but all aim to reduce and eliminate the dog’s flea trouble, different products work against ticks and internal parasites as well. Be sure to seek advice from your veterinarian as to which product is best suited to your puppy and adult dog.

As for worming the puppy, there are also a number of products available. Worming should be systematically and regularly performed according to a routine defined by your veterinarian as once again, puppies are particularly prone to internal parasite problems. The product you use should take into account your dog’s age, weight and lifestyle among other criteria.
