How Long Do Cats Live?

Whether you’re looking at getting your first cat or have been a long-time cat owner, you may be wondering what the life expectancy of a cat is.

Life expectancy of cats

On average, a domesticated cat can live to be at least 15 years old.

As the nutrition we give our cats improves, alongside advancements in veterinary medicine, our cats are living longer and longer. It’s now not unusual for a cat to live to be at least 20 years old.

Outdoor and indoor cats

It’s worth noting that indoor cats tend live longer than outdoor cats. This is due the outdoor cats being exposed to the possibility of diseases, accidents and fights with other cats.
